October 9, 2020 – So far in our educational press release series, we have covered a wide range of topics but for this release, we want to pick up where we left off – talking about the joint planning process and digging a bit deeper into Desired Future Conditions or DFCs. Specifically, we want to cover the factors that the voting groundwater conservation districts (GCDs) within a groundwater management area (GMA) must consider when determining DFCs.

October 2, 2020 – Welcome back to our educational press release series! Thus far, we have discussed bits and pieces of the recently adopted District rules, including the new permitting process and procedures, the permit renewal process (currently underway) and in our last release, we took you back a bit and provided a history of the recent studies, regulations and important cases that have brought the District where it is today.

The focus for our third release will be on the joint planning process – what it is, how groundwater conservation districts (GCDs) are included in the process, and what it means specifically for Lone Star GCD.

Where the District Has Been and Where It Is Going: How Past Regulation, Court Rulings, and Studies Are Shaping the District's Future

September 25, 2020 – Last week, the District announced its series of educational press releases to help effectively communicate changes regarding the District’s new rules and management plan. The first topic released last week explained the permit renewal process and what permittees should expect as their permits are renewed and reissued under the District’s new rules effective September 8, 2020. This release focuses on how prior regulation, court rulings, and studies are shaping the District’s policies and groundwater management. This topic also lays the foundation for future releases that will address desired future conditions (DFCs) and the joint planning process.

New Rules, New Permits - What Does It All Mean?

September 18, 2020 - On September 8th, the Lone Star GCD's Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve new District rules. The new rules play a big part in the Board's policy and will have an effect on many of the District's permit holders. Most changes affect permit holders who have non-exempt wells although some changes do impact exempt well owners who are not required to have permits. So, what does it all mean? To help effectively communicate the changes, the District will be releasing a 4-topic series of educational press releases and this is the first one.
