CONROE, TX – October 26, 2017 – The second annual Minecraft Water Challenge has come to an end and once again the participants really showcased their creativity and critical thinking skills.

This contest is designed with an educational focus and encourages students to research their respective local water resources and, through a series of objectives, depict these within the video game, Minecraft, via an uploaded YouTube video.

Contest registrants came in throughout all four corners of Montgomery County, according to James Ridgway, Jr., LSGCD education/public awareness coordinator. Those included students from: Conroe ISD; Magnolia ISD; Montgomery ISD; New Caney ISD; Splendora ISD; Willis ISD; various privates schools; and several home educated.

“We really enjoy watching how students approach this challenge,” Ridgway said. “You can really see the effort and research and just overall level of detail this year’s winners invested into their respective projects.”

The winner videos are viewable on LSGCD’s Minecraft for the Classroom webpage at www.lonestargcd.org/minecraft-for-classroom. More information on the annual Minecraft Water Challenge is accessible there as well.
